Meet Miami’s own, “Baker to the Stars” Ana Paz. She and her cakes have been featured in USA Today, InStyle Weddings (print and television special), The Knot, Selecta, Discovery Channel, Platinum Weddings, Prime Time with Diane Sawyer, Wedding Wire, Brides, South Florida Bride, Martha Stewart and The Miami Herald (Business Today.)

Her list of celebrity clients is too long to mention, yet some include Gloria Estefan, Jennifer Lopez, Dennis Rodman NBA Hall of Fame Cake, Senator John McCain, Mr. Gene Prescott (owner of the famed Biltmore Hotel), Shaquille O’Neal, Vitamin Water, Ralph Lauren, Tiffany, Luca Luca, Donatella Versace, Marc Anthony, Cher, Philadelphia Phillies (Raul Ibanez), Barry Gibb, JR and Loren Ridinger, Wilfrido Vargas,  Missy Elliot, Mike Piazza, Debbie Reynolds, Queen Latifah, the divine Elaine Lancaster, Alejandro Sanz, and Paulina Rubio.

Ana Paz established her business in Miami, Florida after having moved from her native Puerto Rico where she learned with her own mother, Sara Matta de Juan how to bake, and decorative very ornate, filigree-ridden (fru-fru) cakes made out of Royal Icing and a drier style of cake similar to a pound cake. Now, Mrs. Paz still employs the whole family as Charlie, her husband  who is of Cuban descent, designs our more technically engineered structures like model airplanes filled with real cake inside for Model Airplane enthusiasts.

Camille Paz Ouang does the Accounts Payable and for many years was Ana’s right hand enough so, Cecilia Paz (her middle-child) could attend Art Colleges and Universities in the northeast. She went on to teach art at Ada Merritt K-8 Center  in Little Havana and Thena Crowder Elementary in Little Haiti. Cecilia taught for 3 years as an Adjunct Professor at Miami Dade College, Kendall Campus focusing entirely on Computer Art, Figure Drawing, Color & Composition, Drawing and Advanced Drawing and Art Appreciation. Cecilia kept on with her love of Art by writing about it and Blogs regularly as Editor-in-Chief of www.miamiartblog.com.

Mrs. Paz and her daughter, Sarah Paz-Claro, owner of (www.theofficecake.com) were also invited to the Bush White House for Hispanic Heritage month a few years ago to add to her list of many accomplishments!

Over the span of 33 years she has been the focus of countless articles pertaining to her unique cake designs, attention to detail, service and incredible taste for a recipe handed down from her grandmother: her one and only VANILLA RUM CAKE!
